Experimental Imaging Center

Senior fellowship at the Drug Screening Technologies R&D program

A senior fellowship, starting in 2019, is available at the Drug Screening Technologies R&D program of the Experimental Imaging Center in collaboration with the Institute of Experimental Neurology.

Project description

The candidate will be involved in a project aimed to understand the pathological role of the proton sensing ion channels (ASICs) in the neurotransmission of the diseased brain. Different ASIC isoforms will be investigated as potential selective targets in various pathological contexts and the effect of new antagonists will be evaluated.

The project will be carried out in a strongly motivating interdisciplinary environment. The candidate will be involved in the characterization of neurons from animals in which ASIC1a has been selectively knocked down either in the glutamatergic or in the GABAergic neurons. The study of the role of ASIC isoforms and the effect of new candidate molecules will be performed both in vitro and in vivo.

Desired qualifications

The ideal candidate has experience in neuronal cultures, animal handling and competence in cell biology approaches. Skills in microscopy techniques and electrophysiology are positively considered. Further details about the project and the salary will be discussed during the interview.
