description

GE healthcare DeltaVision™ Ultra is microscope widefiled system designed to acquire and deconvolve multi-dimensional images of fluorescently-labeled specimens. The Deltavision generates file records which contain a lot of metadata including a summary of the image and image acquisition parameters (time series, Z plane settings and wavelengths acquired). Deconvolution is a software-based process by which one can "re-focus" an out of focus image improving image X, Y and Z contrast and resolution while preserving data integrity.

Deconvolution occurs after image acquisition, and uses mathematical algorithms to extract information out of blurred regions of an image to clean up these regions - they then appear to be closer to, if not actually in the same plane of focus as the rest of the image.
