PhD student, Innovation Lab

Martina Tedesco is a PhD student of the International PhD Programme in Molecular Medicine at the Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele. The three great pillars of her scientific background are genomics, cellular biology and molecular biology especially applied to oncology research. Her strong interest in exploring both genetic and molecular sides of drug-resistance in cancer has built up from her previous experiences, from the very first one in the laboratory of Oncohaematological Diagnosis and Cellular Manipulation at the “Ospedali Riuniti Villa Sofia – Cervello” Hospital in Palermo, to an internship in Molecular and Gene Therapy at the “German Cancer Research Center” (DKFZ) of Heidelberg, Germany. After her MSc in Molecular and Industrial Biotechnology at the University of Bologna, she won a scholarship to experience research in a biopharmaceutical company (Kymab, Cambridge, UK), where she gained competences in genome editing for drug discovery purposes.

Today she is one of the members of the Innovation Lab at the Center for Omics Sciences, where she is contributing to the development of novel integrative single-cell technologies, as part of her PhD project “Integrative single-cell approach to explore epigenomic and transcriptomic in persistent cancer cells”.
