Early career group leader – SR-TIGET

The San Raffaele Telethon Institute for Gene Therapy is seeking tenure-track EARLY CAREER GROUP LEADERS wishing to establish ambitious and independent research programs within the broader mission of the Institute to perform cutting edge research on gene and cell therapy and translate its results into therapeutic advances with a main focus on genetic diseases.

Applications from candidates with expertise in these areas are particularly welcome:

  • Biology and therapeutic applications of stem cells
  • Characterization and exploitation of immune cell types for immunotherapy
  • Advanced 2D and 3D modelling of tissues and organs relevant for disease characterization and for testing cell and gene therapy strategies
  • Development and application of genome or protein engineering
  • Non-viral delivery technologies for gene engineering in vivo

PROFILE

Candidates should be in the early stage of their independent career or ready to start it after successful completion of post-doctoral training. Applicants are expected to have an outstanding track record of research to be competitive in securing national and international external research funding, and to have the motivation to get integrated in a highly collaborative environment within the frame of the Institute mission.

SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants should send a cover letter describing current research interests (max 2 pages) and proposed project (max 3 pages), curriculum vitae and contact information of at least 2 referees including one from the current director or supervisor to Luigi Naldini, SR-TIGET Director (naldini.luigi@hsr.it), and Aida Paniccia, SR-TIGET Research Strategy and Communication Manager (paniccia.aida@hsr.it), indicating in the email subject: SR-TIGET Group Leader Application.

Top ranking applicants will be contacted and invited for on-site interview. This will include presenting their work and discussing future research plans with the Director, Vice Director and the other Group Leaders of SR-TIGET. Successful candidates will also discuss their long-term plan with the international Scientific Advisory Board of SR-TIGET.
