Alberto Sanna graduated in Nuclear Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, in Milan Italy. He has been in charge of healthcare process re-engineering and research projects at the Scientific Institute and University Hospital San Raffaele in Milan since 1989, leading highly innovative Information Technology and Automation & Robotics-driven clinical projects in the Nuclear Medicine, Clinical Lab, Hospital Pharmacy, Ward and Surgical Room. Since 1999, he is founder and director of the Research Center for Advanced Technology in Health and Well-Being and he has successfully managed European R&D projects in 5th, 6th, 7th (total of 11 projects, two of them as coordinator) as well as in Horizon 2020 (16 H2020 + 1 Horizon Europe projects) European Commission R&D Framework Programs and private industrial contracts for research activities in four main domains:

  • SMARTer and SAFer HOSPITAL
  • HEALTHier and GREENer LIFE
  • HEALTHier and GREENer CITY
  • HEALTHier and GREENer COASTAL ECOSYSTEM

During his career, he filed international patents in various fields  and presented his research activities in 200+ top level international congresses.

He has been teaching as contract professor in academic courses and masters at University of Insubria , University of Milan and San Raffaele University Vita-Salute in Milan, Italy.

Since 2021, he serves as President of the Innovation Hub in the Italian Observatory for the Protection of the Sea.

In his private interests, he is co-founder of startups (www.Memooria.it, imaging and robotic platform for “tele-medicine” of paintings, 2016; www.Xtramarine.com in the field of Blue Economy – marine leisure and sea mobility), avant-garde photographer (NeuroAesthetic Photography, at the convergence of Neuroscience, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain/NFT, Metaverse and Photography), kids edutainment and videogame author.
