Our mission is to contribute to the unraveling of the inner workings of the human nervous system and mind and to find causes and treatments for neurological and psychiatric diseases. To accomplish this, we investigate the molecular and cellular mechanisms of neuronal and glial dysfunction and we engage in translational and clinical research projects.

The immune system is a complex system of molecules, cells and tissues responsible of combating external and internal insults. The Division of Immunology, Transplantation and Infectious Diseases investigates the development and function of the immune system in health and in several pathological conditions.

The aim of the division is to develop translational research programmes and clinical research, but any significant progress toward the cure of cancer can only be based on an improved understanding of its pathogenesis, which, in turn, will lead to the development of improved diagnostics and more rationale therapeutic interventions.
