Prof. Alberto Zangrillo is Full Professor in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele and Head of Anesthesia and Intensive Care Unit of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan, Italy. Since 1986 He has been practicing at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan specializing in the care of critically ill patients and in the 2001 became Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan.

For his training he attended international centers including Queen Charlotte Hospital in London, Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona and Monaco Cardiothoracic Centre. He is author of more than 800 publications including over 350 papers in indexed journals cited more than 8000 times with an h-index of 44. He participated to 35 RCTs and published clinical trials in NEJM, JAMA, Circulation e British Medical Journal and 38 books or books chapter.

Zangrillo is winner of many grants in the elds of critical care, advanced heart support and anesthesiology. According to the Scopus database, Zangrillo is among the top 10 doctors in the world for the number of publications of the last 2 years in anesthesia and intensive care. Zangrillo is involved in the study of advanced circulatory and ventilator supports, reduction of perioperative mortality and organ damage, treatment of acute cardiac failure, cardiac protection by halogenates and prevention and treatment of acute kidney failure.
