Letizia Messa is a Bioinformatician in the Computational Cancer Immunotherapy Lab led by Dr. Chiara Balestrieri and in the Experimental Hematology Unit directed by Prof. Chiara Bonini. Her research focuses on the analysis of high-dimensional omics data to investigate immune responses and disease mechanisms, with a particular interest in cancer immunotherapy and single-cell technologies.

She obtained a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and a PhD in Computational Biology, developing expertise in bioinformatics, machine learning, and systems biology approaches for the study of complex diseases.

Before joining the Center, her research focused on neurodegenerative disorders, including Parkinson’s Disease, using transcriptomic and network-based approaches to identify disease-associated molecular mechanisms and therapeutic targets.

Her current work centers on the application of single-cell multiomics to study the immune dynamics of CAR-T cell therapies in hematological malignancies. Integration of transcriptomic, proteomic, and immune receptor profiling data supports the investigation of treatment response, toxicity, and the mechanisms underlying therapeutic efficacy.

Her scientific interests include computational biology, cancer immunology, systems medicine, single-cell and spatial omics, and the development of data-driven approaches to support precision medicine.
