Angelo Manfredi is a clinical scientist with a focus on the origin of autoimmunity. Graduating cum laude in Medicine at the University of Milan and specialized in clinical Immunology with Prof. Rugarli, he pursued post-doctoral training at the University of Minnesota under Dr. Conti-Fine. Currently, he serves as Clinical Area Coordinator in San Raffaele Hospital, Milan, and is an Associate Professor of Rheumatology at San Raffaele University. He has made contributions, including the first demonstration of the cross-presentation of apoptotic cell-associated antigens in systemic autoimmunity, while highlighting the role of the interaction of white blood cells, platelets, and vascular endothelium in disease outcomes. With a patient cohort primarily comprising patients with rheumatic disorders, his investigations emphasize vasculitis, arthritis, and systemic autoimmune diseases. Angelo has co-authored over 270 articles in international journals, including Science, NEJM, and Science Translational Medicine. As an educator, Angelo teaches Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology in the School of Medicine of the Vita-Salut San Rafafele in Milano and supervises graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. He also holds institutional responsibilities, serves on editorial boards, and participates in reviewing activities for various scientific organizations. Angelo's focus on  translational research has led to multiple initiatives to advance the understanding of immunological mechanisms and patient care in rheumatic diseases.
