Cell signaling
Marta Muzio

Marta Muzio is a biologist with a specialization in pharmacological research; she trained in immunology at Mario Negri Institute in Milano, Italy and in molecular pathology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, USA. She has research expertise in oncology consolidated both in the pharmaceutical industry and academic institutes. She has a long-standing interest in understanding the molecular mechanisms governing key cellular processes in normal cells that may be deregulated in cancer. Briefly, she identified key molecules regulating the signaling of IL-1 and Toll-like receptors; more recently, she focused on translational research aiming at dissecting and targeting Toll-like receptors signaling in leukemia and lymphoma. Since 2010, Marta leads a research group totally dedicated to experimental oncology. She acts as supervisor of undergraduate and PhD students, and as scientific mentor of Postdocs in the Lab.
