Since January 2002 Massimo Bernardi is deputy-director, responsible of in- patients of the Haematology Unit IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, where he coordinates a staff of 4 physicians and is involved in training of medical students.
Bernardi is committed in diagnosis and treatment of acute leukemias and myelodysplastic syndromes and he is involved in several cooperative retrospective and prospective trials which study the relevance of new prognostic factors and treatment strategies, also including new drugs in phase I-III protocols, in these patologies. He is personally responsible of therapeutic programs for patients with AML and MDS at OSR and he is the principal investigator of an internal protocol of autologous transplantation with an original conditioning regimen for patients older than 65.
Massimo Bernardi is member of the following groups and societies: EBMT, EHA, MDS foundation, GITMO, CMWP of EBMT, REL MDS subcommittee, REL acute leukemias subcommittee.
