Group Leader, Tissue Regeneration and Homeostasis
After completing her PhD in immunology in France, Dr. Emilie Vénéreau joined the San Raffaele Institute as a postdoctoral fellow to investigate the role of the alarmin HMGB1 in inflammation and tissue repair. Her work has shed light on HMGB1's molecular regulation and its impact on tissue regeneration, particularly in skeletal muscle. In 2019, she was appointed as a Project Leader and in 2020 as a Group Leader at the San Raffaele Institute where she is leading a dynamic research group with an interdisciplinary approach to unravel the multifaceted functions of the HMGB1 protein and its implications in various diseases, ranging from muscular dystrophies to cancer cachexia. Through her innovative contributions, she has significantly advanced our understanding of HMGB1 biology and its therapeutic potential. In a broader context, Dr. Emilie Vénéreau's research endeavors to unravel the intricate molecular mechanisms that govern tissue homeostasis in the context of regeneration and tumorigenesis.
