Luca Presotto is a researcher at the nuclear medicine unit of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele. He has a PhD in Physics, with a thesis on quantitative Positron Emission Tomography. Since then he focused his research on all different technological aspects surrounding nuclear medicine techniques. They involve:
- Image reconstruction: achieving the most accurate image while minimizing radiation dose
- Image analysis: extracting all information present in the image
He has applied his knowledge for cardiology, for neuroscience and oncology. Quantification strategies studied include:
- Kinetic models
- Statistical semi-quantitative methods for neuroscience
- Artificial intelligence
In 2019 he won the first place in a worldwide challenge held by the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) for tomographic reconstruction and analysis.
