Umberto Capitanio
Umberto Capitanio is a full staff urologist at San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan. He is Chairman of the European Association Urology (EAU) Young Academic Urologists (YAU) for Renal Cancer and Editor-in-chief of UROONCO, the EAU educational web-platform.
He has been research fellow at the Cancer prognostics and Health Outcomes Unit of the University of Montreal, Canada. He published more than 300 papers in peer-reviewed journals (Source: Scopus January 2020, ORCID 0000-0001-9225-1795) which have been cited more than 7,000 times (H-index 47). Dr. Capitanio's interests include kidney and prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia and robotic surgery. His scientific production in the field of kidney cancer predominantly focuses on lymph node invasion, survival and functional outcomes after nephrectomy.
He is active member of the European Association of Urology (Europe) and the American Urological Association (USA). Dr. Capitanio is also a Member of European Urology Editorial Board, reviewer in the most important urological journals and invited speaker in many international congresses. He received many academic prizes, including the John Blandy Award in 2009.
