Giulio Ferrari

Dr. Ferrari is a clinician scientist. As a practicing ophthalmologist, he is specialized in corneal and ocular surface disorders. Upon completion of his MD training (ECFMG certified), he further specialized in Ophthalmology. He then completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at Harvard Medical School, Schepens Eye Research Institute. He also held a clinical appointment at Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary in the Cornea and Refractive Surgery Department. He completed his PhD training in Biology and Molecular Pathology at the University of Parma, Italy.
Dr. Ferrari has authored over 90 peer reviewed publications, including 37 articles, and 2 book chapters. He is foreign elected member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology since 2013, member of the Italian Society of Ophthalmology, of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and of the European Association for Vision and Eye Research. He serves as ad-hoc reviewer for 13 peer-reviewed ophthalmology and immunology journals. He also sits in the Molecular and Cellular Medicine Board for the Medical Research Council, UK.
Dr. Ferrari has also served as investigator for clinical trials addressing novel treatments of corneal neovascularization and neurotrophic keratopathy. Among his achievements, Dr. Ferrari has received the first prize for research from the Italian Ophthalmology Society, the Merck-ARVO Innovative Ophthalmology Award, and the Point Guard Vision Award for his work in translational ophthalmology.
