Pietro Mortini (M.D., Specialist in Neurosurgery and ENT Surgery) from 2008 is Chairman of the Neurosurgery Department and of the Gamma Knife Radiosurgery clinical Unit at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele. Prof. Mortini is a graduate with Honourable Mention at Parma Medical School; he completed his neurosurgery residency at the University Hospital in Verona followed by an international fellowship training at The George Washington University Neurological Institute (USA). Up to date he performed more than 7500 complex neurosurgical procedures for skull base, brain and spine tumors as well as cerebrovascular disorders.
He is Director of the Unit of Oncological and regenerative neurosurgery: his major research interests lie in clinical study on neuro-oncology and multimodal treatment of complex Skull Base and Central Nervous System tumors. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed journals articles and he is scientific reviewer of “Pituitary” and editor of “Journal of Neurosurgical Sciences”.
Pietro Mortini is full-time professor at Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele and Director of the University Master Course in Stereotactic Radiosurgery and of the University Master Course in Skull Base Surgery. He is clinical professor of Neurosurgery at The George Washington University (Washington D.C. - USA). He is regularly invited as lecturer and speaker at international conferences and meetings worldwide and he has been the organizer of many post-graduated international courses in several fields of neurosurgery.
