Roberto Buccione (RB) earned his PhD in Italy studying mammalian oogenesis. After a post-doctoral experience in The Jackson Laboratory in Maine, USA he returned to Italy to pursue a scientific career in tumour cell biology, during which he published his work in prestigious scientific journals with the support of several funding agencies including the European Community, Associazione Italiana Ricerca sul Cancro (AIRC) and the Italian Ministry for Health. Five years ago, RB joined EMBO Press where he acted as a professional Scientific Editor for EMBO Molecular Medicine until recently, when he joined the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milano to head the newly established Research Integrity Office.
